Hi!
My name is Mrs. Goodhand!
Personal:
I am a mom to 3 AMAZING boys!
Cayman committed as a junior to Frostburg State University as a LHP on the baseball team. He played summer collegiate ball, and played varsity baseball.
Colin loved Coastal Carolina his freshman year, but has chosen to be closer to home. He has entered MC as a sophemore and is interested in the trades! He played varsity baseball.
Declan is a senior and a captain on the varsity soccer team near where we live. He plays travel soccer.
I am married to the love of my life (who has 3 kids of his own (2 are married & 1 baby granddaughter)!
I almost always (no one's perfect!) see a glass as half full!
My favorite color is light yellow.
I am a dog and cat person. I have a black cat with yellow eyes named Domino and a brand new Bernese Mountain dog puppy named Daisy. My husband has a sweet shepard/husky mix.
I cheer the DC area sports teams. I love watching baseball. I love country music.
I live on coffee and tea.
I love to garden! I have pumpkins, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, mint, and herbs growing around our home! My husband plants sunflowers for me each year!
I am of deep faith.
My family is very dear to me.
My father lives with us, and the rest of my family is spread far and wide!
I eat and live pretty healthy. Mindfulness, reflection, and yoga are important practices that keep me grounded, feeling good, always growing, and moving forward in a positive way!
My downfall - I am addicted to Amazon!
Education/Credentials:
I have a BS in Finance, a MA in Education, +60 credits over my MA, an advanced teaching certificates in preK-2nd and K-6th, and a National Board Certification.
I hold certifications in LETRS Volumes 1 and 2.
I participated in the Lead Teacher Academy in spring of 2024, and facilitated the NEO (New Educator Orientation) for 2 years.
I have been a Mentor Teacher.
I enjoyed being the K Team Lead and enjoyed leadership and collaboration during this time.
I hold a current BLS/AED/CPR certification.
I am currently learning ASL. I would also love to learn Spanish and French one day!
I have had the great privilege to be a part of the staff and school that had been watched and followed for 3 years by the state of MD winning a Blue Ribbon Award!
Gratitude:
I am grateful for my experience in Montgomery County. I am even more grateful to have had the opportunity to teach the first formal and foundational academia to the students that I taught each year.
I have taught 2nd, 1st and K! This is where my heart lies.
I have also taught pre-K, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
I am looking forward to working with your kiddo!
We are in this together as a collaborative unit working for the success of your child!
:)
